Cwmbran Celtic FC kindly allowed Montenegro’s under-17s football team to use their facilities for a training session today.
The international side are in Wales to take part in the UEFA under 17 EURO Elite Round. Over the next week they are playing qualifying matches agasint Scotland, Iceland and Wales. The FAW report that “eight group winners and seven runners-up from the Elite Round with the best records will join hosts Hungary in the finals, to be held from 17 May to 2 June”.
I popped along to take a few photos. After the training session, I spoke to one of the staff members who introduced me to the team manager and he gave permission for me to jump on the bus for a quick photo.
Barrie Desmond, chairman of Cwmbran Celtic FC, said: “Celtic are proud to host Montenegro at the Avondale Motor Park Arena in preparation for their euro qualifiers. We were approached by the FAW and were delighted to offer up our facilities at short notice. Wales and Montenegro are small nations and we’ve got to stick together. We wish them all the best.”
