Thirty-six adults in Torfaen who sat GCSE exams in maths and English this year picked up their results today.

They studied for the subjects through Torfaen Council’s adult learning service with 77% achieving grades A* to C.

Accredited courses are also available in Essential Skills courses in English and Maths from beginners up to level 2. The courses aim to build learners’ confidence to prepare them for GCSEs.

Councillor Joanne Gauden, executive member for economy, skills & regeneration, said: “This year’s results are testament to the hard work and dedication of our adult learners and our tutors in the Adult Community Learning Service. We’re so proud of our learners celebrating their amazing achievements today. Not only is it proof of their commitment to succeed, but it also reflects the high-quality teaching and learning that takes place in our 3 adult education venues. Our tutors can help people work out their starting point and help choose the best course for them.”
