Noodle bar Chopstix has announced that its fifth Welsh store will open in Cwmbran town centre.
The chain has 75 locations across the UK and hopes to grow that to 100 over the next year. Torfaen Council has approved a planning application for: ‘Removal of the existing shopfront to be replaced with a glazed shopfront and automatic sliding door. With new signage following the Chopstix brand’.
Last year Cwmbran Life reported that the pizza chain Fireaway was opening in the unit at 17 North Walk after planning permission was given for a change of use from an estate agent (A2 Use Class) into a restaurant and takeaway (A3 Use Class).
That move didn’t take place and now Chopstix aim to open in mid-September and recruit ‘around 25 people’.
A spokesperson for Chopstix said: “We already have a loyal fanbase in Wales having two stores in Cardiff as well as one in Swansea and Bridgend so Cwmbran was the natural next location for us! We can’t wait to open our doors and meet the locals!
“We will be doing 1,000 free portions of spring rolls and 100 free medium boxes on opening week to celebrate.”
