A Cwmbran cyclist has appealed for witnesses or dash cam footage after his bike was hit by a car and the driver didn’t stop.
Simon Warren was cycling in Cwmbran on Thursday 22 September. He left his house in Two Locks to ride to the petrol station on Henllys Way to get cash.
He told Cwmbran Life: “It’s the injustice really. I was coming down Henllys Way and got on the roundabout, taking a right turn (onto Ty Coch Way). As I and was about to exit, a black Ford Ranger came on from Cwmbran Drive going where I came from (the Henllys Way exit). He came on as if I wasn’t there and smashed my back wheel.
“I managed to stay on the bike. It was a miracle to stay on the bike.”
He said the incident happened at 6.13pm and he noted the first four digits of the number plate were CN67.
“It wasn’t rideable so I just pushed it home. Halfords are repairing the back wheel. I can stomach the £73, but it’s the injustice.”
Mr Warren said CCTV from the petrol station caught the incident in the distance on their cameras but it wasn’t clear enough for the full registration plate. He said police told him they also needed the first letter of the second half of the number plate to be able to do a vehicle search.
