You can get help to apply for voter ID thanks to a new service from Torfaen Council’s library service.
Voters now need to show photo identification to vote in some elections – namely future Police Crime and Commissioner elections, UK General Elections, UK Parliamentary By-Elections and recall petitions.
Voter ID is not required for Senedd or local authority elections in Wales.
Anyone who is registered to vote but doesn’t have an acceptable form of photo ID like a passport, driving licence or a ’60 and Over Welsh Concessionary Travel Card’ needs to get a voter authority certificate to show at polling stations.
Staff from Torfaen Libraries and Adult Community Learning service will be on hand each week at the libraries to offer IT support to residents who need to apply online.
