There will be no changes to collection days in the week leading up to Christmas, however after Christmas, collections will run one day later than usual.
This means if your bins are due to be emptied on
- Monday 26 December they will be collected on Tuesday 27 December
- Tuesday 27 December they will be collected on Wednesday 28 December
- Wednesday 28 December they will be collected on Thursday 29 December
- Thursday 29 December they will be collected on Friday 30 December
- Friday 30 December they will be collected on Saturday 31 December
Monday 1 January 2023. Bin collections will take place on New Year’s Day and return to normal.
Help out your bin crews by making sure your waste and recycling is out for collection before 6am collection day.
A council spokesperson said: “Our crews will be extremely busy over the Christmas and New Year period so if your waste or recycling is missed, please leave it out until they have been emptied. To help our collection crews it would be helpful if residents separate out their recycling as much as possible. This helps speed up collections because crews don’t have to sort at the kerbside.”
A top tip is to squash your waste so more can fit in each box.
Capital Valley Plastics will start collecting stretchy plastic from schools again in the new year, until then check with your local supermarket if you can recycle it.
Christmas cards
Pop them in your blue cardboard bag for recycling. Unfortunately, we are unable to recycle wrapping paper.
