Residents in Henllys can watch a free screening of one of the hit films of 2022.
Two years ago Henllys Community Council asked residents for their views on organising a community cinema. They had an “overwhelming” response but the pandemic slowed down progress on getting it organised.
At this evening’s council meeting the councillors finalised the details and confirmed the village cinema in the hall would launch with Toy Story spin-off, Lightyear.
The meeting was attended by Cllr Valerie Waters, Cllr Brenda Everett and Cllr Lawrence Smith-Higgins.
Only for Henllys residents
Only 75 tickets will be released and you have to give your address in Henllys. As the community council is funding the event only Henllys residents can apply.
Cllr Smith-Higgins said quotes for a popcorn machine were around £300 so instead they plan to spend around £30 on bags of sweets to give to children who attend.
All three councillors agreed that alcohol would not be allowed as it’s a family event but everyone was welcome to bring their own snacks and soft drinks. Children under 16 must be with an adult.
Cllr Higgins said: “We want to see how it goes. I’m sure we will be oversubscribed. In future we may do more than one screening.”
