Football fans enjoyed a local derby last Wednesday as Croesyceiliog AFC took on Coed Eva Athletic FC.
The two teams clashed in the Gwent Premier League at Woodland Road. It was a top v bottom fixture, with Croesyceiliog leading the league by 14 points over Pill before the game kicked off. The Newport side had four games in hand and just behind them were Cwmbran Town FC on 43 points with the same number of games in hand.
Croesyceiliog won 4-0 with goals from Hari Holtham, Tom Hodge and two from captain Owen Llewellyn.
Coed Eva don’t have to wait long for a chance to beat their rivals. The two teams play again tomorrow- Saturday 6 April- at The Birches in West Pontnewydd. Kick off 2.30pm.
