Today’s Bog & Bryn challenge was a brilliant spectacle in Cwmbran. Around 115 runners set off from Cwmbran Stadium at 10.30am on a 20km race across muddy paths and fields. This quick video shows runners at a few points around the course and crossing the finish line at the Mill Tavern in Two Locks. The video shows them coming down from Myndd Maen onto the incline and across to Henllys nature reserve. Fairwater Runners organised the race.
The winning time was 1 hour 29 minutes 45 seconds but sorry I didn’t get the name of who crossed the line first. I’ll update this post with a link to the full results when they’re online.
This is from the Bog & Bryn race section on the Fairwater Runners site.
“The route includes numerous stiles and stream crossings, very challenging terrain underfoot and a total elevation of approximately 500m (1640 ft). 2012 will be the first year the race has been run and if successful the club hopes it can become a permanent fixture on the calendar.”
