Lee Dunning, from Cwmbran, is standing as an independent candidate for Torfaen in the UK Parliamentary general election.

He explains why he is standing and why he thinks you should vote for him.

Lee said: “The last few years have been so tough on everyone.

“Firstly, the pandemic, the desperate but admirable efforts of our health services in saving life with little hesitation on personal sacrifice and the devastating effect of social isolation within our communities.

“Secondly, the cost of living rises have been relentless from mortgages to energy, from groceries to fuel.

“These have been significant challenges for us all.

“Whilst we have been facing these day to day challenges. I, like many, feel let down by the people we have trusted to represent us at the parliamentary level. Each week seems to report more corruption, disrespect and manipulation in both UK and Senedd administrations.

“I believe we should expect our MPs to stand for the people and not for their own self interests and that of their financial supporters.

“I firmly believe that there is a better way for the people to be represented and given the opportunity I would like to accept that challenge with the forward thinking people of Torfaen.

“I come with no clever manifesto promises or donations funded expensive marketing campaign. I offer a commitment to challenge and scrutinise proposals from UK and Welsh government on behalf of Torfaen. My representation will align with the voice, the needs and further aspirations of Torfaen. It will not be my own views or that of any political party.

“I am not a politician, I’m an engineer. I seek to understand a problem and take action to resolve. Then to review for improvements.

“In the last week, I’ve had the chance to talk with charities, organisations and people in Torfaen and feel greatly inspired by the work and passion they have and I would strive to match their commitment to our community in representing them.”
