The Salvation Army has asked people who go to Cwmbran Morrisons to donate clothes to its collection banks to not leave them on the floor if the banks are full.
A number of bags were spotted outside the banks in the corner of the supermarket’s car park on Tuesday 26 June 2024. The charity warned the items could be stolen or damaged by poor weather, and reduce the amount of donations collected to support their work.
A Salvation Army spokesperson said: “As a church and charity we rely on the generosity of the public to help support our work.
“Through our collection banks we are diverting clothes from landfill and giving them a new lease of life – while raising money for our work in communities like Cwmbran.
“Our banks are emptied on a regular basis but sometimes they can fill up quickly due to people’s generosity. We would ask that people do not leave donations outside our banks as they are at risk of damage or even theft. To report a full bank, please contact our helpdesk on 0808 141 5890 or email us at [email protected].”
