Organisers of the Mic Morris Torfaen 10km race have announced a number of road closures.
Up to 1,000 participants will take part in the 10k race on Sunday 14 July.
The following roads on the route from Blaenavon to Pontypool will be closed from 8am to 11.30am:
- A4043 Cwmavon Road: From the junction of Prince Street and New William Street in Blaenavon to Old Road in Abersychan.
- Old Road
- Limekiln Road
- Freeholdland Road
- George Street
- Mill Road
- Hospital Road
- The northern section of Osbourne Road, up to its junction with Riverside.
- Riverside
- Park Road, leading up to Penygarn Road.
Runners will start the race from Cwmavon Road in Blaenavon at 9am, and will all cross the finish line in Pontypool Park no later than 11am.
While side roads won’t be officially closed, vehicles won’t be permitted on the race route during the event.
Ben Jeffries, event organiser and Torfaen Sports Development Officer, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the road closures. The team has been in contact with all care providers in the borough, and information has also been distributed to residents living along the affected roads.
“Our goal is to reopen each section of the route as soon as possible. We hope that the advance notice will enable residents to plan alternative routes during this brief closure.”
