A Cwmbran woman has started a well-being business to support and help people going through “a range of mid-life challenges and issues” including menopause, lack of confidence and anxiety.
Andrea Griffin launched Griffinhouse Well-Being last week and Cwmbran Life attended the event to find out more (scroll down for the video).
She said: “I think there’s not enough conversation about it [the menopause]. And I think it’s really important that we’re starting those conversations through the different training and workshops that I run to understand the menopause, understand how it affects, not just ladies, but also men.”
She also gives advice to men with the ‘male menopause‘ that can see men go through physical and emotional changes during the 40s and 50s.
Andrea added: “So I think the more we can talk about it with people, to get them to realise that this is part of nature and it is natural, and it’s just looking at ways of how you can cope with it and deal with it.”
Cllr Jo Gauden, Torfaen’s executive member for economy, skills and regeneration, was at the launch. She said: “Firstly congratulations to Andrea and the very best of luck on your new venture.
“I feel you’re like a warrior ready to go out and educate our communities and arm women (and men) with the right knowledge so we can live healthier lives.
“Menopause is the best kept secret isn’t it? We know a fair bit about periods and giving birth to our beautiful babies but when it comes to menopause we don’t know what is happening until we are falling off the cliff screaming what is happening to me!
“We need to stop the secrecy and educate ourselves, our daughters and grand-daughters and your business offer is a great one to boost that journey.”
