A dedication service was held at Woodland Road in Croesyceiliog yesterday for a memorial to those who have fallen in war.

It was led by Reverend Nick Perry, area dean, and Karin Pardoe, associate priest, both from the Cwmbran Ministry.

Cllr Stewart Matthews, chair of Croesyceiliog and Llanyrafon Community Council, said the memorial was to remember all of those who had “given their lives for freedoms that we have today.”

Nick Thomas-Symonds, Torfaen MP, said the memorial would be a place for residents to visit and “have a quiet moment and think about the sacrifices that those who came before us” had made.

Members of both Cwmbran and District Ex-Services Association and the Royal Naval Association in Torfaen, and piper Steve Parker from Piping Hot Cwmbran took part in the service.
