Two Cwmbran woodlands owned by Bron Afon Community Housing have been officially added to the National Forest for Wales Network.

The woodlands, located at Coleford Path in St Dials and Garw Wood in Croesyceiliog, are among the first to be accepted as a ‘connected woodland’. This means that multiple nearby sites have been grouped together in one application.

The addition of these sites brings the total woodland area within the network to 34,800 square meters.

Simon Morgan, Bron Afon’s environmental manager, said, “This is fantastic news for us, as it comes a year after the first of our two woodland sites at Llanyravon and Greenmeadow and were approved.

“We have added 2.38 hectares to the existing 1.10 hectares of woodland that have met the standards of management and commitment required.

“This is all thanks to the expert management of these sites by our internal tree team, who work hard maintain them to protect biodiversity and wildlife and for the benefit of our communities.”
