Travis George was a special guest at last Thursday’s prom for students from Coleg Gwent’s Independent Living Course.
The singer and actor, who shot to fame in 2023 after wowing the judges on Britain’s Got Talent, was at the event in Llanyrafon Social Club.
He sang several songs, including ‘That’s Life’ by Frank Sinatra and ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ by Randy Newman. After his performance, he spent time talking to students and having photos.
Travis told Cwmbran Life: “I’m honoured to be here as well. Oh my goodness. Just seeing something like this go on so successfully and seeing so many smiles and happy people across the room. I can’t help but think I wish something like this was around when I was, you know, a teenager.”
He said he was so impressed that the evening had been organised by a group of students from the course.
“It’s so good to see. It’s been a humongous success and they’re absolutely overjoyed, look at what they’ve done; it’s unbelievable.”
