49-year-old Lee Trundle has signed for Cwmbran Town FC after a long career where he built a cult following thanks to his skills and crazy goals that were often featured on Soccer AM’s Showboat section.

The fans’ favourite has played for over 20 clubs including Wrexham, Bristol City and Swansea City.

He joins the Crows just over two weeks after they missed out on promotion to D Cymru South losing a play-off match 2-0 to Pontardawe Town.

Trundle said: “I’m delighted to be joining Cwmbran Town. It’s a club with a proud history, passionate people and real ambition for the future. I’ve had some fantastic conversations with those involved and I can see what they’re trying to build. If I can help the players, help the younger generation coming through and play my part in helping Cwmbrân move back towards where a club of this size belongs, then that’s something I’m excited to be part of. I’m looking forward to getting started and meeting the supporters.”

Dan O’Connell, chairman, said: “This is a huge moment for Cwmbrân Town. Lee isn’t just an outstanding footballer, he’s a role model and an ambassador for the game. The impact he can have on our younger players, our supporters and the wider club is enormous. His arrival demonstrates the ambition we have as a football club and our determination to continue building something special here. We are absolutely delighted to welcome him to Cwmbran Town.”

Brandon Simpson, First Team manager, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Lee Trundle to Cwmbran Town. Lee brings huge experience, real quality, and has been there and done it across the game. He’ll be a huge boost for the squad and the club as a whole. We’re excited to have him with us and can’t wait to see the impact he’ll make this season.”
