Tofaen Dolphins’ Meghan Willis and Theodora Taylor both swam in finals for Wales at the Commonwealth Games last night.
Willis finished seventh in the S9 100m freestyle and Taylor finished fourth in the 50m freestyle.
Before Taylor’s race, BBC Radio 5 Live’s John Hunt said: “She [Taylor] has had a really good week. The most elegant of stylists as well in the pool. Big, big future ahead for her. But what an almighty challenge because she’s not got one, she’s not got two, but she’s got three Australians in this line-up, all three appear to be in peak form. It’s a tough, tough ask.”
The Australians took all three medals but Hunt said: “For Theodora to finish fourth in that company, that’s extraordinary really. To just be on the shoulders of those great swimmers from Australia. I mean she’s 17. She has such a future ahead of her. She doesn’t have to improve that much does she, to really get involved in world championships next year and the Olympics the year after.”
During these games, Taylor set a new Wales record in the 100m freestyle and won a bronze medal in the mixed 4 x 100m relay.
