“Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone.” Those were the words of Cindy Lewis, minutes after having her long hair cut off and her head shaved for the Little Princess Trust.
The event was part of CoStar’s fun day at the ThreePenny Bit Hall in Greenmeadow on Saturday 5 September. Cindy walked out into the sunny garden with her hair bunched up in four ponytails and sat in a chair surrounded by dozens of people.
Mandy Owen, the local councillor for the area, chopped off the ponytails before starting a “number two” head shave.
It was all over in less than five minutes- with Cindy telling Cwmbran Life- the long bunches would now be bagged up and sent off to the charity that makes wigs for children with cancer.
She said: “I feel free and light and cool. The amount of money that we’ve been able to raise today just for me doing this is…thank you, thank you, thank you, everyone, because every penny matters.”
The last time she had a haircut was around “five or six years ago.” Cindy thanked all the people who have supported her and turned out to watch it live.
“People have just been like, ‘you can do this’, ‘go for it’, ‘I can’t believe you’re doing it, you’ve been growing your hair for so long.’
“But here we are, £400 worth of support [for CoStar] at the moment, still counting, [the fundraising page) still open.”
