Organisers of this weekend’s bag packing collection in Cwmbran’s Asda in memory of Shae Button have thanked everyone who volunteered their time or donated money.
One of the people who took part posted on the R.I.P Shae Brynley Button page at 7.30pm tonight.
“Just heard from the girls and they are half way through counting the buckets and the total SO FAR is………. £4000 !!!!! yes and we’re only half way !!!”
I popped in Asda at 3.45pm today and chatted with one of the organisers of the event Hayley Orme. Press play on this Audioboo below to hear her thank Asda who have agreed to match the final sum that is raised.
“We have had people turn up who we don’t event know and they’ve just jumped on tills and helped and stood here all day packing as much as they can”
She explained that the money will pay for a headstone for Shae, memory boxes for parents of children who pass away and to help hospitals and families of children affected by meningitis.
