These pics show the before, during and after as a Cwmbran teenager had her head shaved. Seren Thomas-Wilcox, aged 16, a pupil at Croesyceiliog School was raising cash to send her aunt and uncle on holiday.
She said: “My Great Uncle Rob is currently in Velindre Cancer Hospital fighting an aggressive form of throat cancer. He and his wife, my Aunty Jane, are putting up a great fight together and we are hoping that he will be back home soon with the all clear. Aunty Jane has given up work so that she can personally provide all the support Uncle Rob needs.
“Obviously this means that their household income has taken a bit of hit. My Uncle loves the beach and his two favourite places to holiday are Tenby and Tenerife.
“I hope to raise enough money through my Sponsored Head Shave to pay for my Aunty and Uncle to have a well deserved holiday together, when he is strong enough to travel.
“We are aiming for Tenby as travelling abroad whilst receiving ongoing treatment is not appropriate at this time.
“Please help me, in any way you can, to help two genuine people in having a well deserved break away together after a very hard time.”
The head shave was done last week at Rhys Giles Hair in Cwmbran.
“A lady gave £50 on the spot”
Seren’s father Darren Wilcox said: “It was emotional. A lady gave £50 on the spot after asking why Seren was having her head shaved. There are some beautiful people in this world and I couldn’t be prouder of my daughter.”
