A Henllys man with a lifelong love of hiking has published his first walking guide.
Harri Roberts, 35, has written the pocket-sized Day Walks in the Brecon Beacons for Vertebrate Publishing.
The guidebook features 20 circular walks ranging from 6.8 miles to 16.5 miles suitable for hill walkers of all abilities.
The routes are split into four areas: Blorenge & The Black Mountains, The Brecon Beacons, Mynydd Llangatwg & Mynydd Llangynidr and Fforest Fawr & The Black Mountain.
Harri said: “In South East Wales, we are fortunate to live so close to spectacular peaks and escarpments, high moorland, peaceful farming valleys, beautiful waterfalls and deep wooded gorges. Most people know Pen y Fan and Ystradfellte, but there are other delightful areas far less frequented, like the recently designated Fforest Fawr Geopark, the Olchen Valley and parts of the Black Mountain.
“In this book, I’ve tried to strike a balance between justifiably popular walks and those equally deserving but less well known. Even if people have walked the Brecon Beacons before, I hope my guidebook will provide a fresh perspective on the region and lead walkers to places they have yet to discover.”
Harri was a pupil at Henllys Village Primary School and Fairwater Comprehensive School.
