A fundraising netball event at a Cwmbran school to remember a former pupil was described as an “incredible event” by her mum.
Fifteen teams took part in the tournament at Croesyceiliog School, where Emily Clarke was a former pupil before she passed away from cancer in 2016.
The Phoenix Netball Club organised the event memory of Emily and to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The 18-year-old started Remission Possible while being treated and it continues to raise awareness of cancer.
Donna Dunn, Emily’s mum, was at the event. She said: “It was an incredible event. I only knew four players out of 15 teams. So felt privileged to share Emily’s story with a new audience. The school were amazing and we are already in talks to make it an annual event.”
The tournament was won by ‘Nothing but (net) ball’ who beat ‘Guys & Dolls’ in the final. The school thanked “Hollie & Beth who umpired all day and to Mr Rogers & Emily’s family for running such a great day”.
