Cwmbran Shopping is calling upon musicians, magicians and dancers to enter its ‘Busker Bonanza’ competition, set up to celebrate the variety of street performance skills and creativity in the community.

Entrants to ‘Busker Bonanza’ will be given live performance slots over three Saturdays – the 20th and 27th June, and 4th July – where they will have the opportunity to perform in front of shoppers. At the live performances, shoppers will be able to vote for their favourite busker.

Contestants could include people with a flair for tap dancing, gifted guitar players or somebody with a knack for performing magic tricks. The street artist with the most votes will receive £250 to spend at a store of their choice at Cwmbran Shopping.

How to enter the Busker Bonanza

The competition will be run on the centre’s Facebook page. Anybody over the age of 12 is encouraged to register themselves or nominate a talented performer on the Cwmbran Shopping Facebook page before the closing date of Saturday 13 June.

Buskers will also be encouraged to collect contributions from the public during their performance.

Paul Rich, centre manager at Cwmbran Shopping, said:  “We see fantastic buskers performing at the centre every day, and we felt it was time that they are recognised for their talent.

“We don’t want to limit Busker Bonanza just to musicians. Whether it’s a street dancer with incredible rhythm, a quirky street magician or a budding opera singer, we want to celebrate the range of talent we have in the local community. We’re hoping we may even discover the next Ed Sheeran or Dynamo! Whatever their talent may be, we encourage people to enter for the chance to win a great prize.”

The winner will be announced on 10 July.
