Campaigners fighting for a “permanent” solution for the ongoing water supply needed for the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal have vowed to continue their campaign.
Yesterday, a story from the Local Democracy Service said that the immediate threat to the supply appears to have been resolved.
A statement given to Cwmbran Life on behalf of the Bridge 46 to Five Locks Canal Group and Preserve & Protect the Mon & Brec Canal Campaign Group said: A temporary resolution has been agreed to protect the Mon & Brec Canal from imminent danger. However, a more permanent and sustainable solution must be found to secure the longevity of this beautiful canal for now and the generations yet to come.
“The campaign to preserve and protect the Mon & Brec canal will continue.”
Their petition calling for action has reached over 11,600 signatures.
