“I’m so proud of him and what he’s achieved.” Those were the words of Connor Mayley’s boxing coach, after the 15-year-old Cwmbran boxer became the 60kg junior Welsh champion.
The teenager trains out of Goodes Amateur Boxing.
Jon Manning, coach, told Cwmbran Life: “He started boxing with me three years ago. The 60kg junior category was the largest category this year and Connor had a tough route to the finals.”
In the preliminary round, he beat last year’s champion.
Jon added: “I’m so proud of him and what he’s achieved. Connor always gives 100% in training and sparring. He will take others around in sparring and is a real asset to our gym. His record at present is 20 bouts, 15 wins and he’s on a seven bout winning streak.”
