A tourist attraction dedicated to crows is opening in Cwmbran. The South Wales town means Crow Valley/ Valley of the Crows in Welsh and the entrepreneur behind the plan says it will pull in 10,000 visitors a year.
Leigh Brandon told Cwmbran Life the number of crows starring in hit movies had inspired her idea. She decided Cwmbran would be the perfect location after spotting the link during a Google search.
She said: “I’m a movie buff and it struck me how these beautiful birds crop up in films of every genre. People love crows, people love movies and I’ve found out that Cwmbran people love their town’s Welsh name.
“What other movie character can pop up in a Disney Movie (helping Dumbo face his fears), resurrect a rock musician in cult classic The Crow and be the loyal friend of a librarian in tear-jerker The Shawshank Redemption.
“The crow is the unsung hero of the film world and Cwmbran is going to change that. Visitors will learn more about this beautiful, talented bird and its impact on Hollywood.
“And this will be done in the world’s only valley dedicated to the crow.”
