We have all heard of the Motorpoint Arena and the Principality Stadium. Big brands pay big bucks to get their names on well-known sporting venues.

Cwmbran Celtic FC were proud to announce today that they have renewed a deal with a business from the town over naming rights at their home ground.

The partnership means Celtic Park, next to Cwmbran Stadium, will continue to be known as the Avondale Motor Park Arena. James Crees, owner of Avondale Motor Park showed his support for the club for an undisclosed fee.

The club played one of the biggest games in their history today as they took on JD Cymru Premier League champions and Welsh Cup holders, The New Saints, in a cup quarter-final clash.

Today’s match attracted a crowd of 459. TNS went ahead 1-0 after ten minutes but Celtic weren’t phased and Joshua Rippon equalised three minutes later. The home crowd were unhappy when a Celtic goal was disallowed six minutes before the break.
