Three projects will receive grants from Cwmbran Community Council’s new small schemes fund.
The council’s grants to voluntary organisations committee met on Monday evening. Earlier this year, the council approved a trial project where each of the 19 councillors gets £1,000 to spend on local projects in their ward. The meeting saw councillors approve three applications.
- Court Farm and Oakfield Association– £400 (2 x £200 grants) to decorate the main hall.
- Llarcs group– £200 to buy items and kit for the new orchard area in Oakfield Flower Gardens
- Friends of Pontnewdd Park– £350 for a community event and event security
Councillor Chris Morgan, Lowlands & Avondale Ward, said it was important their small schemes projects were publicised so community groups and organisations could approach their local councillor and apply for money.
