The shopkeeper whose Cwmbran business was burgled wants to thank Cwmbran Life readers for their support and kind comments.
Reza Mehrjou has run mini-markets in the town for almost 40 years. Thieves smashed their way into his Oakfield shop in the early hours of Sunday 5 July and stole thousands of pounds of stock.
His story touched 100s of people who shared their own stories of how he had helped them over the years. He phoned me last Sunday afternoon to say he wasn’t on Facebook, but a resident had printed off the comments from him to read.
He asked me to pop to his shop so he could give me ‘thank you’ message to pass on through this page.
Reza said: “It is unbelievable. It is fantastic how much support people gave and how nice they’ve been. You know it’s really touched me, how nice people have been.
“I don’t have Facebook, but what they’ve showed me is really nice. I just want to thank everybody for being so nice, supportive and honestly, I’m speechless.
“It’s unbelievable, the amount of people who’ve came down to see me. People I haven’t seen for such a long time. Really sensational.”
Reza used to run a shop in Blenheim Shops and The Pantry Shop in Greenmeadow
He said: “I don’t think words could explain how grateful I am and how nice they’ve been. Thank you all, thank you all.
“I always treat people like my family. It’s so nice to see how people remember.
“I would like to thank every one of them being so nice. Thank you ever so much.”
