The 1980 final of Superstars was held in Cwmbran saw the UK’s best athletes compete at Cwmbran Boating Lake and Cwmbran Stadium.
Superstars is an all-around sports competition that pits elite athletes from different sports against one another in a series of athletic events resembling a decathlon. Points are awarded for the position in which the competitor places in each event. The competitor with the most points at the end of all ten events is declared the champion. This cracking clip was shared with me on Cwmbran Life’s Facebook.
It is TV Gold ๐ Watch David Vine call the Boating Lake as a ‘very attractive piece of parkland’. This clip also shows the cycling heat where they race passed the playground’s helicopter!
The lake now has a ‘no cycling’ sign ๐
