A photo on the Cwmbran Life Facebook page yesterday (10 April 22) caused a stir among dog owners.

It was a reminder about the areas at the Boating Lake and Southfields where your dog must be a on a lead and areas where dogs are not allowed to be walked- even if they are on a lead. I popped to the area tonight and took some photos to make it as easy as possible to avoid falling foul of the rules and ending up with a fine of up to £1,000.

How much can I be fined if I don’t follow the rules?

Under the Public Spaces Protection Order for Dog Control the council has the power to hand out a fixed penalty notice of £100. If you fail to pay, the council will take legal action which could lead to a fine of up to £1,000.

These large signs are at various entrance points and show the areas where dogs must be kept on a lead and where dogs are not allowed to be exercised- even if they are on a lead.
