A new community project to help more people take part in sport is appealing for donations of pre-loved sports clothes and footwear.
The Community Kit Room provides free sports clothing and footwear for children and adults who would struggle to buy the items new, including football and rugby tops and boots and gymnastics leotards.
The joint initiative by Torfaen Council’s sports development team, Blaenavon Town Council and Cwmbran Community Council, has been launced.
If you have good quality sports clothes or footwear you no longer need, you can donate them to the Community Kit Rooms at:

A separate initiative has also been developed by the Sports Development Team to allow people to borrow sports equipment for free from Torfaen’s three libraries.
Library card holders can now borrow sports packs for basketball, boccia, cricket, curling, fitness, football fundamentals, golf, Netball, pickleball, rounders, rugby, table tennis and tennis.
Cllr Fiona Cross, Torfaen Council’s executive member for communities, said: “Let’s come together as a community to break down barriers and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in sports.”
“As part our county plan objectives, we strive to exercise the importance of reduce, reuse and recycle across all council services, as well as improving the health and well-being for all our residents.”
