South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is looking for fire cadets for its station in Cwmbran.
Young people aged 13-16 can apply and enjoy a unique insight into working within an emergency service. There are also vacancies in Aberbargoed, Abergavenny, Merthyr and Tredegar.
If you are able to join the service says you will: “…be treated as a young trainee firefighter, learning the basic skills required of a firefighter while participating in activity in and around your local Fire Station. You will be provided with your own uniform and fire kit which you will need to take good care of, and you will be expected to attend a weekly drill night at your Fire Cadet Unit. You will be expected to show a certain amount of discipline and commitment, just like our firefighters.”
Cadets also take part in outdoor activities, camps, competitions and social trips.
