The Food Standards Agency ‘scores on the doors’ scheme has been making headlines today. This is the story on Wales Online and on BBC Wales.
The site has been around for a few years but just over a year. Today’s story is about the possibility of forcing restaurants and takeaways to actually display their score. Here is health minister Lesley Griffiths explaining why she thinks this is a good idea. Find out if a restaurant, takeaway or food shop you want to eat at or buy food from has good food hygiene standards.The food hygiene rating or inspection result given to a business reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of inspection or visit by the local authority. The food hygiene rating is not a guide to food quality.

One note of minor correction, the Food Standards Agency site has only been in operation just over a year, ( not a few years) and worth noting that premises get added to database as inspected, so some food businesses in Wales don’t have a score yet. Happy to report Torfaen CBC were one of the first authorities to upload data.”
