A football club in Cwmbran has been given planning permission to demolish and rebuild its changing rooms.
Coed Eva FC’s home ground is on a field off The Birches in Pontnewydd. They submitted a planning application to Torfaen Council for:
‘Demolition and removal of existing changing rooms and container and construction of new changing room block.’
Their application was approved earlier this week. The new block will be the same part of the site as the current one. The club said their existing facilities need ‘modernising and upgrading due to their age and in anticipation for promotion in accordance with the governing bodies’.
Two local residents responded to a consultation. The reasons included ‘parking problems’ and ‘flow of vehicles down such a small road with a barely sufficient amount of residential parking.’ One resident didn’t object to the new changing rooms but did object to a fence being built around the pitch.
The club will install a bat box and a bird box as part of ‘biodiversity enhancement’.
