Are you a dad – or about to become one? Torfaen Council’s For Dads, By Dads programme is now taking registrations for its next ten‑week course, offering practical support, confidence‑building and a friendly space to learn alongside other local dads.
The programme begins on Thursday 3 September, running weekly from 7pm to 9pm at Pontypool Active Living Centre. Each two‑hour workshop is designed specifically for dads with children up to 18 months, covering topics that can make a real difference in those early months of parenthood.
Some of the sessions include:
- Baby first aid – hands‑on guidance to help you feel prepared
- Midwife and health visitor information – ask questions and get reliable advice
- Health and wellbeing —-looking after yourself while looking after your baby
The programme has been developed with input from Fathers Outreach, Tidy Butt, Gwent Psychology, Recoveries 4 All and Newport County in the Community.
After completing the course, dads will be signposted to local groups, clubs and forums to help them stay connected and supported.
