Gates to children’s park in Cwmbran locked due to vandalism

A children’s park in Cwmbran can’t be used because of safety concerns following a vandalism attack.

The safety floor covering in the park in Greenmeadow, on the field next to the ‘banana bridge’ on Ty Gwyn Way, was burnt on Tuesday night. Council staff can’t repair the damage during this cold weather as the material they use can only be used at a certain temperature.

A social media post from Torfaen Council said: “… a part of the safety surface was burnt. This has left the playground unsafe to use so it has temporarily been closed. Due to the current cold temperature immediate repair isn’t possible because material used to fix the damage is only workable at a certain temperature. We will fix the surface as soon as possible. If anyone saw who damaged the safety surface please get in touch with the police.”
