Two Cwmbran residents are flying the flag for the town- and Team GB- at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympic Games.
Dave Phillips is competing in the para-archery men’s open recurve. Kyron Duke is taking part in his third Paralympics in the men’s F41 shot.
Dave featured in this video on Cwmbran Life in 2016 when he was aiming to be selected for the 2016 Games in Rio. Booking his ticket on the flight to Brazil was an incredible achievement as he only returned to the sport in 2013 after a 30-year break. He took early retirement from his job as a steelworker because of multiple sclerosis and was persuaded by his wife to rejoin Llantarnam Archery Club. The final of the men’s open recurve is on Friday 3 September.
Kyron broke the F41 shot put world record in 2019. He competes on Monday 30 August.
