The Steelhouse reuse shop in New Inn is holding two special days in December where you can pick up a bag of toys for just £1.
The shop opened in December 2021 and saves 1000s of items in good condition from going to landfill at the nearby Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Visitors are being asked to bring a ‘bag for life’ to the shop on Saturday 3 and 10 December to collect some toys, children’s books and DVDs for £1.
Anyone with toys, books, games or DVDs to donate in the run-up to Christmas, can take them to the shop, which is open seven days a week between 9.30am – 4.30pm.
Councillor Mandy Owen, executive member for the environment, said: “This is a fantastic offer for anyone who has or looks after children.
“We all know that children change their minds often about toys, so instead of paying a fortune for new ones why not buy some pre-loved ones. Not only will you be saving money but reducing waste and helping reduce climate change.”
Alun Harries, charity manager for the Wastesavers group who run The Steelhouse, said: “Our shops get inundated with toys after Christmas, so this year we want people to clear out early so those toys might find their way into a Christmas stocking.
“Now is the time to make space for what Santa might bring.”
The Steelhouse is at Unit 8, South Pontypool Industrial Estate, New Inn, NP4 0LS
No traders or eBayers
Traders and eBayer are being urged to not take advantage of the sale as the aim is to bring a little Christmas cheer to local children who may miss out.
