Pupils at Llantarnam Community Primary School won’t forget this fabulous fundraising event in a hurry.
Volunteers on the school’s PTA, governors, staff and parent helpers worked so hard to pull off this ‘Colour Dash’ run last Friday afternoon. Pupils from the nursery right through to year six ran a couple of laps around the field over an obstacle course while being pelted with dry powder paint.
They collected sponsorship money and also took part in a raffle for the chance to gunge a member of staff.
A spokesperson for the school said: “Game staff who volunteered to be gunged were Mrs Bowen (TA), Mr Griffiths (caretaker), Mr Vevo (teacher), Mrs Richardson (teacher), Mr Sykes (teacher) and Mrs Perrett (head teacher). Mr Vevo was the first to be chosen, so went in the stocks. He had the gall to turn up in a rain poncho, so the children responded accordingly and insisted he take it off and picked him first to be gunged 🤣.
“Miss Williams and Miss Postle didn’t volunteer to be gunged, but happened to be posing for a picture as Mr Griffiths took matters into his own hands, Miss Williams aware of what was happening, and Miss Postle in blissful ignorance!
“The rain shower halfway through added to the fun, and the refreshments and hotdogs kept everyone going through the event.
“I can honestly say it was one of the most fun school events I’ve been to. Everyone enjoyed it (not sure if the children or the paint throwers enjoyed themselves more), and it was a huge success as a fundraising event.”
