Hairdressers, barbers and beauty professionals from across Gwent have taken part in a special training session to help them spot the early signs of skin cancer.
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board held the education event to highlight the important role hair and beauty workers can play in noticing changes on a client’s skin that may need checking.
The session, led by the Health Board’s Skin Cancer Nurse Specialists and Clinical Psychologists, covered how to recognise common symptoms, how to approach sensitive conversations and where to signpost clients for further advice.
Attendees also took part in discussions and activities, sharing experiences from their work.
Everyone received a certificate and a goody bag of skin‑cancer‑prevention resources to take back to their workplaces.
The Health Board said the aim is to help more people stay informed, stay safe and spot potential problems as early as possible.
