“Every child should have a cake on their birthday.”
That is what one of the volunteers told me is the reason why she helps out with Free Cakes for Kids Wales.
Think about that. There are children in Wales who do not get to blow out candles on their special day each year.
Free Kids For Wales link up families who can't provide their child with a cake with amateur bakers who love cooking. The bakers find out what the child would like and make it ready to be delivered in time for the big day.
What a fantastic idea. Have a look below at some of the cakes that have been made this year for children. You can also read some of the comments from families who have had a cake.
The group of five volunteers who make cakes for children in the Torfaen and Newport area is looking for more help. It was set up in April and they have made 19 cakes.
How to volunteer
Visit the group's website for more information and how to help out. In a nutshell if you enjoy being creative in the kitchen and want to help children smile on their birthday get in touch.
The site also explains how they take requests for cakes to make sure those in need are helped.
You can like the group’s page on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.
