A new community project is bringing the energy of hip hop to Thornhill, Cwmbran, with weekly DJ and breakdance workshops for children aged 6 to 12.

Hip Hop Skills & Thrills Thornhill, run by HIP HOP 12, kicks off on Monday 9 February 2026 at Thornhill Community Hall, offering action-packed sessions every Monday from 4pm to 5.45pm.

Young participants will learn from top local talent, including Huw Wackman, DMC UK DJ Champion, and Tommy Boost, a professional breakdancer.

The programme is designed to boost creativity, confidence, fitness and teamwork, all in a fun and inclusive environment. Whether kids want to master the decks or learn to spin on the floor, they’ll be supported every step of the way.

Thanks to funding from Communities Choice and TVA, the full five-month programme costs just £22 – that’s only £1 per session. No payment is required at sign-up, but places are limited, so early booking is advised.
