A knitted postbox topper featuring a doctor, nurse and a patient has appeared in Cwmbran to mark World Polio Day.
Thursday 24 October is World Polio Day, a day to raise awareness of polio vaccination to protect children and celebrate the work taking place across the world to eradicate the disease.
Pupils at the Interact Club at Croesyceiliog School have run several polio campaigns. The club aims to make “a difference in the local, national, and international communities”.
The mum and grandmother of Daniel, their club’s president, and volunteers at Ebenezer Evangelical Congregational Church’s craft club created this wonderful postbox topper that’s been placed near the Post Room Cafe on The Highway.
It shows a doctor, a nurse, a patient in bed, crutches, a wheelchair, a syringe as well the purple flowers that are associated with the End Polio Now campaign.
The topper will be in place for a few more days.
