Cwmbran could see the return of an annual music festival to showcase talent in the area.

The events and community projects committee at Cwmbran Community Council met on Monday evening to talk about what lessons could be learned from the 2023 Cwmbran Big Event. They discussed the positive feedback about the live music on the stage and this led to the idea of an extra event in 2024 or 2025 just for live music.

Councillor Kebba Manneh, St Dials Ward, said: “I think it’s a great idea” and how it would mean “reinstating” an annual music event they used to organise. Councillor Stuart Ashley, Mount Pleasant Ward, said: “There are a lot of bands around the place, a lot of talent. You could use the big event as a showcase.” Councillor William Walker, Llantarnam Ward, said: “We could pack that field with music.”

Councillors agreed that the clerk and officers could do some “scoping” work to see if a live music festival would be “feasible”. Discussions would continue at their next meeting.
