More than 500 children entered Cwmbran Community Council’s Christmas card competition.

Seventeen children were shortlisted and invited to the council chamber in Old Cwmbran. Cllr Leanne Lloyd-Tolman, council chair, gave each child a selection box and a packet of Christmas cards featuring their own design.

Rose Ryan, six, from Llantarnam Primary School, was chosen as the overall winner.

Cllr Julian Simon Davenne, who represents Fairwater & Oaksford Ward, and works for Torfaen Play Service, said: “Torfaen Play Service partners up with Cwmbran Community Council to offer this opportunity for children to put their designs forward. There have been superb entries. We’ve had over 500 children come together to draw designs that went forward for the final. Well done to everybody in this room, you’ve done a fantastic job to get through to the final.”
