A mum wants parents to remind their children of the dangers of climbing fences after her ten-year-old son sliced off his fingers.
Anna Savery, who moved from Cwmbran to Blaenavon in 2014, has been in Morriston Hospital since Thursday when her son Dylan was rushed there for surgery to save his fingers.
Anna said: “I want to publicise the danger of kids climbing fences. The fence in Blaenavon is around some water tanks. They gained access via a hole in the fence and had made a den in there so they were just being kids. They were trying to take a shortcut by climbing the fence.
“I understand that the kids were trespassing and shouldn’t have been in there but at the end of the day they are kids and they made a den.
“I just don’t want any kids or parents to go through what we have. He had to have ten hours of surgery and still has more to come. His hand is now disfigured for life as we couldn’t find the one piece of his finger.
“He has also broken his hand which complicates matters. We are expecting to be in hospital for a few more days.”
