A new community book club in Cwmbran is inviting people to join its growing group of readers.
Forbidden Chapters Bookclub, founded by Mya Squires, meets on the last weekend of every month and is designed to be a relaxed, inclusive space for anyone to connect through books and friendship.
The next meet‑up takes place on Sunday 28 June, from 10am to 11.30am, at Coffi Kitoko in Cwmbran town centre. Find out more how to book through the club’s Facebook page.
Mya created the club earlier this year after looking for a way to meet new people and build meaningful friendships.
She said: “As a stay‑at‑home mum looking for connection and community, I wanted to create a relaxed, safe, and welcoming space where people could come together through reading.
“What started as a simple idea has grown into a supportive community for readers from all walks of life. At Forbidden Chapters, it’s about more than just books. It’s about community, comfort, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
“The club was created to give people a space where they can discover new books and genres, meet people with similar interests, have conversations beyond social media and everyday small talk, make reading more consistent and enjoyable, and build genuine connections through creativity and shared ideas.”
