Councillors from Henllys Community Council held their monthly meeting earlier this week.
They signed off the latest newsletter that will be delivered to all residents in the area soon. It features info on key budget spending from the last year including £2,500 paid towards the Torfaen Summer Playschemes and £4,800 to fund the village youth club.
An area around one of the pieces of play equipment in the park needs to be repaired. There are some ‘gaps’ between the squares. They’ve received quotes and will pay a contractor £1,670 + VAT to do the work.
A Remembrance Service will be held by the memorial area in Henllys Nature Reserve on Sunday 12 November. Thirty poppies will be placed on lamposts in the village. They mentioned that 6 June 2024 is the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings and agreed to plan something to mark the occasion.
A grant application from the local brownies group for £250 was approved. At the same meeting they agreed to fund a second defibrillator for the village and were told an invoice for the three speed indicator devices along Henllys Way has not yet been paid as one of the ones has never worked correctly.
